The three castles are situated around the alpine foothills that surround the town of the same name. This may boggle your mind, but there are actually 170 people living inside of this volcano in the Philippine Sea. It is an administered area of the Japanese government, so technically everyone inside of this volcano is a Japanese citizen. The last time the volcano erupted was in the late 1700s, but it is still registered as an active volcano by the Japanese government.
